Well it takes a standard screw on type canister so you would have that no matter which stove you get. So Ambika really you are already saving 6.75oz with your current set up.
What type of pot do you have thats only 5oz? |

I use MSR Titan Kettle at 4.1 oz and coleman F1 stove at 2.7 oz. With a MSR 110 canister the stove, canister, lighter, & bandana (pot holder/dish rag) all fit in the pot/cup.
I had read that the Snow Peak stove would only fit there canisters. I was told that the theads of a Snow Peak canister are one thead short so they work with other stoves, but if another brand canister is theaded on to a Snow Peak stove it will break a seal, I just did not want to risk it. Living in the far west valley I had to drive a ways to get canisters other than Coleman (Walmart ) or MSR at Popular, and I wanted to be able to pick up a canister anywhere that I went with out a big hunt, is why I stayed away from Snow Peak. |

Looks like I may need to look into getting a new cookset! So Ambika you use the snow peak canister and that will fit inside your cookset? |

I just purchased the JetBoil today and tried it out using the Snow Peak canister. It worked beautifully!!! Boiled 2 cups of water in no time!! Everything fits inside the cup and the top and bottom covers pop on to make it one very nice, packable piece of gear. This appeared to be a very popular item today at REI. Only a couple left and several people checking out the demo model. |

That is what is claimed -- I have yet to try it. But I think if you use a small canister that is kinda tall (unlike the MSR one which is wide) it could work ....
More excuses to visit REI ...I am working on keeping away _________________ Photos: http://www.pbase.com/desertgirl/galleries

The snow peak canisters will fit any of the other stoves, it's a universal thread.
We just got another shipment of jetboils into the store this afternoon. Shelves are full! _________________ Cogito ergo ambulo cum sacculo

I have the snowpeak Trek 700 titanium pot also. It's great. Giga power fuel canister slides in and it even has a spot for my spork. I'm having thoughts of getting rid of my Pocket Rocket and getting the Gigapower stove so everything fits in the pot. But I dont know if I could part with my PocketRocket. I love that little thing, sounds like a jet. _________________ Good people... drink good beer.

My set up is like desertgirls, everything stove and canister fits inside the pot. It makes roughly 3 1/2 cups water, enough for a meal and tea. Perfect for me! Mary |

I just found an aluminum cup that the jetboil fits into perfectly when it's all packed. It has a conventional handle though, not a folding one. For those that do freezer-bag cooking, the freezer bag fits in nicely and the top of the bag opens over the rim of the cup (with a little stretching!), allowing easier access to the food. Cup capacity is 36 oz (4 1/2 cups). If anyone's interested, I can pick them up before I leave Mayland and get them to you later this week. With tax they're $4.00.

Thanks for posting this. I believe this applies to my stove. I'll have to check once I get back home. |
