As I was driving back from Flagstaff this morning, after watching the rain all weekend, I was surprised to see how much water was flowing in the Verde River. Normally there is a flood plain area on the north side of the river, and the river confined to a narrow channel, but this morning the entire flood plain area was also covered with flowing water. I just checked the USGS stream flow site and the Verde River, which is normally a bit above 200 cfs this time of the year is now flowing around 12800 cfs. That's a normal flow for the Colorado River through the Canyon! Probably not a good day to canoe down the Verde... _________________ The world is older and bigger than we are.
