How about the weekend of Dec. 28? Doesn't have to be a camp out...cause it's cold...but something in the Supes would be fun. _________________ "A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out."

I will start thinking about April. Does anyone have any place they would like to see in the Canyon? It would be awesome if we could get off corridor.... Lets talk about this. Would we like to do a day hike or an over nighter or a multi nighter? I will need to get permits accordingly. I would like to get a feel for interest.

I will not be able to go on Dec 28 since I will likely be up at the cabin in White Mountains _________________ Photos: http://www.pbase.com/desertgirl/galleries

Ambika,
Let's go for the weekend of 16-17th. This will be a car camp. I would likely go down on Friday the 15th and spend two nights. If enough people are interested, we can reserve the group site. The dates can be changed if need be. |

How about a 3 day backpack on Segment 16 ( Gila River Canyons 25.2 miles) & Segment 17 ( Alamo Canyon 11.5 miles) - This will end at Picket Post
So a total of 38 miles -- 1st 16 along Gila River -- generally flat
next 9 miles is through Spectacular gorges -- up hill 1800ft gain
Last 11.5 ( Almo Passage) is generally downhill dropping from 3500ft to about 2500ft.
I am thinking March 14-17 time frame.
Post if you are interested -- we can work some variations as well .... _________________ Photos: http://www.pbase.com/desertgirl/galleries

I was kinda thinking day hike to Dripping Springs actually. That way more people could be included. Not everyone wants to backpack..... trying to make it something every one can do. Dripping Springs is a fun hike and doesn't require gear and strength that a back pack would.
Anyone have any feed back on this thought process? _________________ ~~~Diane~~~

So let get some feed back here on this one.... I am definitely gonna make it a day hike. What I want to know is if there is any interest in camping or before or after or both.... Getting hotel rooms and hanging around in the lobby or in rooms to stay warm? Need some guidance here to know what to plan... _________________ ~~~Diane~~~

I like this idea!
Picket Post in February sounds fun too! Come one every one! Let's pitch in here and get the ball rolling! I'd love to hike with you all again! Last years hikes may have been small but they were way fun! _________________ ~~~Diane~~~
