Alone or as a group? If we go as a group, let's make sure there are plenty of gnomes that come along, especially the very little, slow and limping gnomes. Is there anyone out there that matches this description? If so, I'm up for that trip. Mary

I think I fit that "gnome" category since I'm pretty little and kinda slow but don't limp......would you settle for 2 out of 3? Very Happy

Mary, we can hike together and be happy with our gnome status!

Trish, no offense, but if we are being stalked......I just want to make sure that I can run faster! I just have NO desire to be eaten by wild animals. So, we will have to also have a "slow" gnome with a limp! Laughing Mary

Seriously, has anyone heard of a hiker being attacked by a four-legged critter around here? I think the two-legged critters are more worrisome.

Nah, but it's fun to say, "Lions, and Tigers and Bears, oh, my" Just like Dorothy on the Wizard of Oz! Pink Yes

I've also encountered many wild animals from black bear, heard a mountain lion a few times (not in this area), moose, deer, sheep and mountain goats, but the one thing that scared the crap out of me was being chased and attacked by a partridge. I got too close to her nest. This was back in the days when I didn't know about light weight packing and my pack weighted almost as much as I did.....I'm trying to run away and I'm holding off this partridge with a fishing pole! Those suckers are wicked scary when they want to be and their clawed flying feet are lethal weapons. So, I too have to agree with you, those 2-leggeds are more frightening! Twisted Evil

The story is true, but I know what you are saying. Those 2-leggeds (Homo Sapiens) creep me out a lot more than the 4-legged!
