I am looking to get out of the heat. I will be taking my youngest camping. We are heading to the Coconino NP (Rock Crossing Camp Ground-near Blue Ridge Reservoir). Not a huge fan of camp grounds but this is one of the last places in the state we can still roast marsh mellows until the rains come. During the day, we will be heading out exploring nearby areas. We are going up Tuesday or Wednesday and returning Thursday night or Friday morning.
Some of our explorations might include Kinder Crossing or playing in the East Clear Creek.
Let me know if you are interested. _________________ All our dreams come true if we have the courage to pursue them...Walt Disney |

Very good area for mtn. biking and hiking. I visit and set up base camp at nearby Blue Ridge Campground. Make time to visit the nearby Lookout Tower. |

Thank you Michelle; you should see how excited the little man is to go camping. He is actually bouncing up and down like Paint's favorite emoticon: _________________ All our dreams come true if we have the courage to pursue them...Walt Disney |

We are back in one piece. The Rock Crossing camp ground was nice. Restrooms were clean but the camp host found it necessary to start their generators at 5:45am...
We had a great time up there. Ace road his bike all over at the camp. We saw tons of elk, a porcupine and of course the night star gazing was amazing. After pointing out a few satellites crossing the sky to Ace; we got into conversations about space and the human reach into space. Ace had lots of alien questions too.
Blue Ridge Reservoir is being lowered by SRP to do repair work on the dam. The water is nice. We did not end up doing any fishing.
Clear creek is running clear and cool. The area is under a serious fire hazard as there is waaaaay too much forest litter.
Ace and I did lots of random wondering through the woods off some of the forest roads up there. Finding various tanks, trying to sit quietly and watch for thirsty animals. Ace was practicing his caveman skills on these walks by breaking the vesicular basalt on other rocks. A great time indeed.
We will all be going back to the 5A south area to do some dispersed camping next week during the week; Tuesday through the end of the week. Don't get me wrong, camp ground can be fun but not seeing someone close to you has a certain appeal. _________________ All our dreams come true if we have the courage to pursue them...Walt Disney |

Glad you boys had a great time! The cool weather up there is awesome isn't it? Sure is shocking to come back into the heat of the valley after that. YOu can almost forget about it when you are up there. _________________ ~~~Diane~~~
