Was just up there last weekend - one of the better hikes around PHX. _________________ Mountains complement desert as desert complements city, as wilderness complements and completes civilization. - Ed Abbey |

It sure was a great day to be hiking ...a perfect day in the desert wilderness! We all did great and had a great time! The trail was much nicer than I expected ; the company was great. Got to meet John and trade tales ...
Angela & Linda -- You both did wonderful! More adventures await!
Dinner was at Raul & Teresa's -- quite excellent Mexican food! I had a sonoran enchilada -- a 1st! _________________ Photos: http://www.pbase.com/desertgirl/galleries

You really pick great hikes Ambika. I thought the view were wonderful. I don't think there was one part of that hike I didn't enjoy!
Thank you again!

What a wonderful day in the AZhood. These types of hikes, it's good to have folks around you who support you and encourage you as you hike those almost endless false summits and where the Peak keeps getting further and further away.
At the same time as you are increasing your breathing, you realize how lucky you are to have great comraderie and scenery that makes the occasional lacking of air worth every breath and every step! As we neared the top the mica flashes at you everywhere and we're thinking "bling" and so we designated this "THE BLING HIKE".
We all agreed that this was a much more beautiful hike than we were led to believe and the drive on the dirt road, at least this day, wasn't nearly as difficult as others had suggested. This climb was kind in places as it leveled somewhat to let you catch your breath. But of course, the ultimate reward was at the top sitting amongst the quartz rocks .
I didn't realize until this morning that I had taken nearly an hour worth of video, almost all of it while walking. It turned out pretty good. I haven't even looked at the pictures. Thank you Ambika for asking me to join you and thanks to Linda and John for coming along. It's always great fun when everyone enjoys every moment... well almost every moment... of a wonderful hike in the wilderness. _________________ Angela from N Phoenix |
