Hi All -

I recently completed a hike down the Nankoweap Trail in the Grand Canyon. To view that report, go here:

2009 Nankoweap

Clicking on any thumbnail picture takes you to a photo-gallery of larger size pictures. Enjoy. The Nankoweap granaries on day 4 and the Petroglyphs we found on day 5 were especially stunning.

Thanks very much for linking us to such a detailed write-up! It was very interesting! I was happy to hear the Park Service had done work on the "scary spot" but not happy to hear there are new scary spots!

How did those Tarp tents work out? You said you didn't want to put yours up in a stiff wind? There is a newish thread on HAZ about Tarp Tents. You might want to visit it, share your tent stories.

Thanks again!

Regarding my Sublite Tarptent at Marion Point. I am from Oklahoma and any wind speed of 30 mph or less we consider to only be a light breeze. The wind I had at Marion Point was brutal and there simply was no way I could have gotten my tent to stay up. I like it pretty well, but miss my free standing tent. That's the price you pay for saving four pounds of weight.
