and a New Vision for the American West" by Annette McGivney, collaborated by Katy Lee; amazing photos of newly emerging Glen Canyon. I went to the book signing and slide show at REI> Check it out!
Awesome! Some of the trails are opening ! We may see part of Glen Canyon in our lifetimes! |

Hate to mention this, but isn't Lake Powell starting to fill up again? (Hope not, but that's what I had heard this spring.) |

Up 30 feet from the low point this year. Highest its been in about 7 years. Water is actually in the spillways (though not going through them). _________________ Anywhere is within walking distance if you spend the time. |

Ugh. Earthquake needed, soon!
PageRob, check your PMs on HAZ. Maybe I should put up new posts on here and on there about my presentation to AAS this coming Thursday evening at Homolovi State Park, but not until I hear back from the organizers. In a day or two I'll post it. |

According to the photos dated in the book( this spring) and the author, it's still very low and it looks really strange to see the "no wake" signs in dry mud and the Hite marina in the middle of a dried up plateau.it'll take a lot to get it back at this point. |

The bottom of Glen Canyon has a one foot per mile gradient. Hite is some 40 miles downstream from the maximum upper end of the lake, so the water would have to be 40 or less below full. We're at 58 feet below full, so Hite is still a river (or, rather, the river is back at Hite). But who can predict the future? Will we have another winter like 82? Or like 04? _________________ Anywhere is within walking distance if you spend the time. |

Hey Rob,
just tsake a look at the book and photos if you see it. Research has been quite thorough. But who knows! I'd love to see that canyon! |

Update:
Just spoke with a ranger up at Hite today, and the lake is up to the bottom of the paved launch ramp, and you can launch power boats there now. _________________ Anywhere is within walking distance if you spend the time. |

At any rate, a lot of beauty was buried there. Time will tell! |
