Basset Peak from TH is a 12 mile RT with 2650 ft eleveation gain -- anticipating 6-8hrs on the trail. With the short days of fall -- it will be an early departure.
Option for those that want to enjoy some stunning fall color at an easy pace: 1st 3 miles is mosltly flat and has great fall color.
We will camp some where in the vicinity ..... Plan is for dispersed camping along the road to TH. Hope to catch you there!

What is the dirt road like in? Passable by car? I might think about renting a vehicle, mine is not young enough for a long trip like this. Unless I can carpool. _________________ Anne

The road is passable by car until the last mile in Ash Canyon to the parking spot. |

Folks -- Wondering if we can move this up by a week ? Many people in the know have said colors will be better a week earlier ....If you cannot make Nov 5-6-7; please post. I will take a look at the # that cannot go and decide if we leave it at this week or move it to a week earlier. _________________ Photos: http://www.pbase.com/desertgirl/galleries

Nice try - trying to move the hike on me . But the date change works fine for me too. May I bring a guest?
Isn't it going to be a bit nippy for camping? _________________ Angela from N Phoenix |

Fannel jammies are a must! 15 degree bag, and one spare sock to drape over your nose! Plus throw in whatever else you want because it's car camping and we can pack, pack, pack! |

The more I ponder this, the more I think changing it to Nov 6-8 is a good idea (plus then I could see some friends from Tucson Backpackers who will also be there). |

ALERT! ALERT! ALERT!
The dates have been moved up a week ( Nov 6-8 ) from original dates ( Nov 12-15). We hope to hit peak color with the color on the trees rather than on the ground!!! Please reconfirm you sign ups ( I did not delete the sign ups ) - making sure the new dates work for you.
Most of you have confirmed that the revised dates will work and we will be missing a few..... _________________ Photos: http://www.pbase.com/desertgirl/galleries

This one I'm gonna miss Working a migration that weekend, hopefully all will go well and won't have to rollback, so it won't be hanging over my head any more for future possibilities to get out
You all have a wonderful time and get some wonderful pics. _________________ Wanderingsoul (Michelle)
