I have been thinking I want to take my bike up to the Canyon and ride the rim trail and what ever else we want to ride. I don't want to do a kick butt kinda ride cause we are all flat landers and are not used to riding in those altitudes but more like a lei surly kinda ride where we can go up on Friday after work and set up camp. On Saturday morning we ride from our favorite closed road camp site into the park and ride the day away on the rim sight seeing and picnicking for lunch returning to camp when ever we see fit. Any one like the idea? My schedule is working out so I can pull this off on the weekend of July 18th and 19th with a Friday evening thrown in for good measure.... Sounds like fun. I'm going to work on finding a bike even if I have to borrow my son's bike! _________________ "A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out."

Sounds like a nice plan to me... but I'm doing that non-mentionable "W" word again. It sure does put a cramp in my style having lost Half our work Team and picking up the slack. OK. this time I AM WHINING, usually I'm just Venting to get it off my chest. | _________________ Wanderingsoul (Michelle)

In light of the free entry to the National Parks on this weekend perhaps this should be put off till another weekend???? The rest of my weekends in July are booked....Perhaps August? Maybe the 8th and 9th? Would that work for any one? _________________ ~~~Diane~~~

I think that might be the weekend of Hart Prairie? _________________ "A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out."

Well in the meantime ride. I like to ride from Woods Canyon and Mtn. bike camp to Willow Springs Lake. I also mtn. bike camp in the area of Blue Ridge Reservoir. My mt. bike is a hardtail with panneirs, that is more than adequate for a couple of nights. Sometimes I will take one of my road bikes (I have nine bikes) camp near Clints Well and ride to Flag and spend the night and return. |

You bike people have to check out this new trail:

At the risk of highjacking the thread, I intend to put it up as a GHOTM hike for peak color season. _________________ The bear went over the mountain to see what he could see. |

Oh heavens! I am not a bike person, I just happen to own a bike.... I am suggesting a tame ride on the rim of the Canyon, not some rough and tumble ride through the wilderness! _________________ ~~~Diane~~~

Park at the turnoff to Woods Canyon Lake and ride the Gen Crook trail. Or get up early and ride the canal bike packs in the valley. |
