That time of year again! With little warning, I present to you the 4th SAPDR! The plan this spring is to meetup at Chavez Pass Pueblo (directions provided to participants via PM) and do some exploration up there. While not technically part of the Painted Desert, Chavez Pass was the way in and out of the LCR basin in prehistoric times, and provides a glimpse into the life of the ancient inhabitants of the Painted Desert.
Car camping that night will be at Homolovi Ruins State Park, just outside of Holbrook. We can do some hiking there that afternoon to some petroglyph sites. Dinner will probably be at the campsite, though we can roll into town if folks are so inclined.
The next day presents three major options: Little Painted Desert County Park, just north of Homolovi is one. The Moenkopi badlands east of Winslow is another. The third is the PeFo, with a possible side-trip to Holbrook Petroglyph Park afterwards. Lunch in Holbrook or Winslow, and then we'll all head our own separate ways.
Since we'll be day hiking and car-camping, there's no group size limit. Everyone is responsible for their own fees (campground/parks/meals/etc.). Should be a good time! Who's interested?

This sounds like a great time. Wish I could make it. We have plans down here in Southern AZ to go to an old Marble Quarry near Fort Bowie and I thought I'd try to reschedule the cochise thing!! Busy, Busy, YIKES! Crazy

I might be able to make this one. Sure would love to get back to that area. It's so pretty there.

Rob, still planning on the weekend unless I need to fly to Sacramento for birth of my sons baby. I'm planning on driving up on Friday afternoon from Scottsdale and car camping Friday night at Homolovi Ruins State Park. We can exchange info (car, cell phone etc) as we get closer....Brian

As a heads-up, this morning I woke up with mucus plugging my nose and hacking phlegm. This day has not left me feeling any better. We shall see how the week develops, but this may have an adverse impact on things. Will advise as the week progresses.

No kidding! This morning my wife had to call in sick because she's apparently caught what I have. This morning I woke up and my nose isn't running but "it" has moved down into my throat. I'm hacking and coughing like mad. Ugh.

Rob, we're going to bail. I have a surgery scheduled next week and I don't need to catch something right before it. Sorry you're feeling poorly and I hope you get better soon.

Well this morning I'm still feeling poorly this morning, so it isn't looking good for me either. I will make a final determination this evening.
