I'm down here in Phoenix this week and discovered, sadly, that Laradas Surplus is closing. This is their last week and everything is 50% off. Too bad, they've been there for 42 years. I can remember going in there for some of my first backpacking equipment - canvas backpacks, BDU's and patrol belts with canteens. LOL! Wait a minute... I still have some of that stuff!
They are located in the bright yellow building at the NE corner of Extension and Main in Mesa.

Sounds a lot like the old Yates Army/Navy Surplus store in Phoenix I remember as a kid. |

Wow...........Too bad.
That was one of the first places I found when visiting AZ.
Purchased my first pair of snake gators there.
You'd think that someone would have taken over or bought the business and moved it to a more central location.
Maybe even turned into an online store..........K>s> |

Original sold it a couple of years ago and one of their relatives opened Freedom Surplus in Mesa which is located on the south side of Main Street just east of Gilbert. Phoenix and Tucson still have a couple of Surplus Stores. Will miss Larada's. |
