So with the new year quickly coming up I thought I would get this started a little early this year. We need to pick a location and a hike destination for the 6th Anniversary Shindig and suggestions would be great at this point.
Thanks,

Sheep's Bridge has some nice, lower sonoran scenery. Wont be so cold as other areas. Hot springs nearby, and fishing opportunity. I caught a 11 lb channel cat there years ago.
there is also many trails leaving the area into the western mazzie's. _________________ http://www.arizonahikers.com/board/albums/albwb18/BRIDGE.sized.jpg

Sorry, I should have stated that I wanted somewhere that folks with kids and dogs could get to if necessary. I had in mind someplace we could car camp, have a potluck, hike, drink etc.

When is it planned? Do you have a date yet?

I'd vote for another weekend only because the 17th is the start of a 3 day weekend. The 19th (Monday) is Civil Rights day. When I have a longer weekend I like to make plans to be a little farther out of town. I'm not sure if other folks think that way or not but felt it was worthy of bringing up.
Now if you wanted to move the shindig to Lee's Ferry up near Page for that same weekend....I'd be all over that idea. |

I think it would be only fitting to combine celebrations! How wonderful to celebrate the birth of Todd and the birth of AZH!
Having it closer would make it possible for more people to come and join in the celebration since not everyone is able to get away for a long weekend.

Think it'd be nice to have an extra day to celebrate birth of ArizonaHikers.com; no rushing to get set up and break camp the next day.

what's a Todd.....or did you mean Toad....somebody got a toad with a birthday that weekend? Or is it the fact that you feed goatboy enough Bob Marleys he turns into a toad? Does somebody have to kiss it to turn it back intoTodd? Ain't gonna get a lot of volunteers for that task!
Think it would also be super great if Mike Stargel was there as well; after all, without him to do the software we wouldn't be having an ArizonaHikers.com to celebrate! Plus, it's been a long time since we've seen Elijah! _________________ John Richardson and Richie Rich, El Perro de Playero

So sorry. Believe me I understand that more now than ever! I would be just as happy to have it in Page or Prescott or wherever; however, I have found many don't like to travel very far for events.
Hope you can make it wherever it is planned! Looking forward to meeting you.

Hopefully! We'll have to see where it's going to be, etc. I would like to make it down and meet all these other folks who I've been chatting with online here over the years. _________________ Anywhere is within walking distance if you spend the time. |

Okay I've talked to Cave Creek Regional and we can have the Group Campground again. I am also getting information for a 2 hour ranger led hike -
Quote: |
Archaeological Hike - Cave Creek Park
Cave Creek Regional Park
This wonderful guided hike will take you back to the days of when the Hohokam and other native people lived in this area. We will visit several archaeological sites including petroglyphs and agricultural features of this area. Bring proper hiking gear, water and sun protection. Please bring a vehicle, We will first be driving on a dirt road to get to our starting point.

Sound good?
