Alrighty, its fall so its time to start thinking of the next Painted Desert exploration and easy overnight backpack into the Petrified Forest or nearby environs. "Mountain Lion Mesa" will be a dayhike sortie with probably "accommodations" taking place in the southern wilderness northeast of Agate House. Possible side trip option to Chavez Pass Pueblo for those of your returning to Phoenix, as it is on the way between Holbrook and Strawberry.
Total of 8 folks for overnight. Dayhikers are welcome - they don't affect permit limits.

Whaddaya say?

Sad Bummer, I was hoping I could make this next one. I'm going to be in the Canyon that weekend.

I know there is a load of people in the Canyon that weekend but there are a lot of new people around here and not so new people who won't be in the Canyon and there is no better guide to this area than our own Pagerob! He is a load of knowlege and fun to boot!!!! And his wife Eli is awesome! You will have fun!

Drat - I would absolutely be in for this hike (it's on my list of places to go) but you've picked a bad weekend for me....

Definitely next time.

(Kudos on posting it though!)

No one able to make it yet, eh? Well, I'll give it a bit, but if no one can go, we can switch up the date.

I'll be in Tucson (provided that *%&$*& Chapman Volkswagen has my car fixed) the previous weekend.

I'll also be posting this over on HAZ to see if there's any interest there.

It does sound enticing, but that's the weekend that some folks (myself included) will be in the Grand Canyon. Definitely interested in checking that country out if you end up switching dates or going some other time.

No matter how many times I read title and description and all the fine print everywhere on this page I do not find the DATE OF THE EVENT, although everyone else seems to know it is. What gives?

If it is posted elsewhere, fine, but please post them on this page as well.

Sweet! I'm new here and I figured there was a mysterious code way of letting the experienced hikers know the date, but nope, it's just hidden somewhere else. How far away is this place? I live in Tempe.

If you go to the HOME page and look under the "Upcoming Events" listing, it gives the dates.

Oct. 11-12

Or I suppose you could flip through the months on the "Calendar" until you found it. Wink
