Well I did my first mini/sprint Triathlon today, the base was putting it on. It consisted of a 400 meter swim followed by a 13 mile bike ride and finishing with a 5k run.
There were about 90 people and I finished in the lower 1/3rd. Don't know the exact #.
The swim took me 12:24
The Bike was 1:01
The 5k was 28 minutes.
Total came to 1:41 minutes.
Nothing spectacular by any means, but if they had a Clydesdale division (200+lb) I think I would have placed.
It was a lot of fun and a nice challenge in different activities I don't normally do. I have a lot of room to improve on in the biking, it didn't help that I dropped my water bottle with 2 miles to go and wanted it back, so I stopped and went back and got it. Overall I was happy with my results considering Wednesday my 9mile ride was the first bike ride over a mile I've done in 10+ years.

Way to go! They say that Triathlons are addictive - do you feel the pull? Are you ready to train for an olympic or ironman distance yet? _________________ Cheers,

If I can get around to training for the swim, I would like to try a longer one with a 800m swim and a 10k run. The bike was the hardest part for me. Need a new seat, Hooli is right about needing a massage. Any takers? |

I'll be in Chicago that weekend. I looked at the TRI AZ website and I have plans for all the weekends up till mid-novemeber. Didn't get to look past that. I don't think I want to get into the "wetsuit" swims though. |

Just this weekend I signed up for the AZ Tri Club.... I'll keep you posted, if you want details before you move!

Congrats, Tim! They only get easier after the first one. Bet it was a good feeling finishing. I'll see what I can do about finding you a good bike. _________________ Mountains complement desert as desert complements city, as wilderness complements and completes civilization. - Ed Abbey |

Well I'll be the first to day it's not the bike it's the rider. I traded a bunch of backpacking gear for a friends Raleigh Bike before he left AZ.
The bike I got is a 2007
Raleigh Sport.
Good enough for my level of riding that's for sure. |

When I did my first, and only, triathlon, I used my mountain bike. The road bikes are so expensive now! _________________ Anne
