Oh my goodess Tim! Italy!!!! Way cool!!!! Don't forget we do have an "out of state" catagory on the board set up especially for people like you!!!! We already have some awesome reports posted there so now you can add to them!!! I am sure Jen is excited about the assignment! She loves Italy doesn't she!? We will miss you terribly but there is plenty of time for all those musy words before you leave us. I just hope I can get a few more hikes in with you before you go! So! When do we plan your going away party for? _________________ ~~~Diane~~~

Wow, Tim, now there's an adventure!
I would have to agree with Matt and Hnak...Dolomites. I have never been, but I sat next to a guy on a plane and he shared a trip from his laptop. Very cool place. Not to mention you will have to hike all that great Italian food off!
Best of luck to you!

Jen is especially looking forward to it. Already started looking into some hiking and climbing there. Don't think I will have a problem finding places to go.
Dolomites? Well Aviano (my future base) is at the foot of the Dolomites Mountain range.
As for my to do list: Yes I'm certain that May will come around quick. Plus there is LOTS to do around the house to get it ready for sale/rent. Sell the Jeep I just built and Jen's car as well.
Shrink our collection of furniture from filling a 2200sf house to a 1000sf place. Look for future sale items

so now that I've taken care of all these mixed emotions.......I suspect that as you prepare to move you might need to find a good place for some of your gear.............sounds like you really won't have storage space for all of those packs, tents, filters..............I'd be happy to help you by taking a few of those things. I'm especially fond of that light weight yellow tent....you probably won't want to take that. |

Tim,
Northern Italy is beautiful. If you get a chance, head over to Trieste up in the North-East corner. It's beautiful and the people there are absolutely wonderful. That was by far my favorite place in Italy. Try a place called "Harry's Grill", which is a very nice restaurant inside the Grand Hotel Duchi d'Aosta) on the plaza (http://www.booking.com/hotel/it/grand-duchi-d-aosta.en.html). I had the BEST dinner of my life there!
Good luck on your journey. I hope that you'll keep us up-to-date on your travels and hiking experiences. |

Looks like Trieste is only 1.5 hours from Base, will be sure to check it out.
Suz, I'm sure I will have some things for sale, mostly stuff I don't need though, believe me I'll be keeping my favorites (yellow tent), will probably be giving some stuff away too.
Brian, looking forward to some winter challenges with You, Scott and Tommy. |

Okay, okay.....I'm good with that. Just wanted to help out. I'm sure Jen will need more closet space for shoes and purses. The more gear you keep the less the rest of us will have to travel with when we come for a group hike of the month!
This is certainly the best incentive I can think of to start the passport process . |

I think we should go out to eat afterwards instead of doing a potluck, okay? |

I don't know, I may be missing some of the usual pot luck food by then. At least Tracy needs to bring some salsa |

I'm sure it'd be better made fresh with REAL Italian plum tomatoes!! _________________ ~Tracy

What a great move on your part. If I had to move out of country it would be my first choice.
Sorry to see you leave AZ though. You only live once, so follow your dreams. _________________ You can never eat too much candy... |
