I'm not sure if it's just the warm weather but lately I've been contemplating hiking in a skirt. I think a loose, knee length style could be comfy but I have to wonder about thigh chafing and the inevitable gust o' wind. So are there any skirt aficionados lurking about? |

I saw a guy at Miner's summit in gaudy leapord print skirt once. He seemed to be doing OK with it, raised an eyebrow or two in the group Iwas with. _________________ The bear went over the mountain to see what he could see. |

Our very own AZhiker96 wears a skirt when he hikes some times....I never have.... I have seen it on the trail and agree with you. I think it would be cool (temerature wise) but I have a tendance to do a bit of climbing up things and such that would most likely make wearing a skirt inadvisable..... _________________ ~~~Diane~~~

How about a skort, with the shorts part being vented. Still light and cool, but a little less inconvenient in some situations. _________________ Anywhere is within walking distance if you spend the time. |

It's not a skirt, it's a kilt!

I have a skort and find it very comfortable to hike in. I wouldn't trust a plain skirt unless I was wearing boy shorts style undies underneath (due to that inevitable gust of wind or thigh chafing) _________________ ~~~Trish~~~

Skorts = good for hiking.
Skirts good for lounging around camp.........unless it's one of those Hammock Hangouts! |

In downtown Seattle there is a shop called utili-kilt. You see people out and about in them all the time, and supposedly they are great for hiking.
the story goes, a motorcycle mechanic started cutting up a pair of BDU's to wear while working on his bike. He did some sewing, added pockets and the utilikilt was born.

I would recommend hike what feels comfortable who cares what others think.
I hike with my Teva's a lot on trails that I frequent and I get comments about them. I am not quite sure why people have an issue with this. _________________ You can never eat too much candy... |

Why do they want to tell you their opinion about hiking in Tevas? Some people are just pre-programmed to always try to "correct" other people's behavior. Tell them, "I'm wearing them just to annoy you."
This same type of people often become bosses. |

I wasn't going to go there, Hooli!!
And for the record, I was not hiking in the aforementioned item. I had ceased hiking, and was sitting on the side of a canyon wall while removing prickly pear spines!! _________________ Blond, James Blond... double "O", uh oh!!
