Just a month ago I was down in Arizona enjoying all that good Arizona stuff.
However, my job makes me stay close to Provo Utah so I've been sampling some of the stuff in the Utah Outback (aka the western desert)

Here's a few samplings:
Cedar Mountains

Swasey Peak

The Drum Mountains

Most of these are not far from Delta Utah and hopefully this weekend I will be able to enjoy Notch Peak and Frisco Peaks. I can't wait to get back down to Arizona to do Mt. Baldy in the Whites as well as many other places but these peak areas I have just listed remind me a bit of Arizona.
Swasey Peak has a healthy grove of Bristlecone pines growing near the summit and Cedar Mtns have a large group of wild horses.

There is no "Less than" wild realestate west of Denver. It all has its unique beauty. A walk in the outwardly plain mountain in the bottom picture would yeild treasures on every occasion.

Did this one with Andy Martin and Richard Joseph of Tucson and Mark Nichols of Benson.
Pics are in the trip report:

Since the last post of 5/22, I have enjoyed 5 more of these western Utah peaks. The gas prices are making visitation sparse and we saw only a few other people over two weekends. Peaks visited:
West Mtn Peak near St. George
Indian Peak
Kingtop
Tunnel Springs HP
Needle Benchmark.

It was helpful information from Andy Martin of Tucson that helped on both Kingtop and Tunnel Springs HP. The desert is heating up so I'll be heading for Mt. Baker of Washington in two weeks.
