I was wondering if there is anything similar to the various national parks passes here in AZ. That would cover fees to park in places like the Supes or any other places that have a fee? Or just any type of passes like that here in AZ? Just wonderin. My buddy had a n.p. pass for when we went to g.c. and saguaro, so I think I want to pick one of those up when I visit one of those places next. |

There are a variety of passes available here in AZ.
National Parks Pass ($50)
Maricopa County Parks Pass ($75)
Red Rock Pass (Sedona area) ($20)
State Parks Pass (unlimited) ($75)
State Parks Pass (limited) ($45)
I haven't yet discovered a National Forest Pass.
Each year I buy the NP pass, the County pass and the Red Rock Pass...it's a lot of cash, but if I paid per usage, I'd probably pay double...so it goes...
I just wish they'd come out with an "Anywhere Pass" _________________ -Colin

Is there a website that you could direct me to, so I can check out the Maricopa and state park passes. Thanks!! I think I will definitely get the national park passes right before I head to one of those places next. _________________ "In the first place you can't see anything from a car; you've got to get out of the goddamned contraption and walk, better yet crawl, on hands and knees...When traces of blood begin to mark your trail you'll see something, maybe."

Here's a list of fee areas and fees for the Tonto NF.
http://www.fs.fed.us/r3/tonto/recreation/fees/fee_tbl.html
I'm sure you could find similar information on the other forest sites. We'll get a links page up soon and we can list things like this there, too. _________________ [/size] |

Ck1, since you purchase the county pass, could you tell me what parks it encompasses. i really couldn't find any mention of it on the maricopa website, except under a few individual parks, but it didn't really give much info on there. thanks! I will be moving out to el mirage in a few months and will head out to the white tanks a fair amount I assume, so it would probably be worth it, but I wasn't sure where else I could use it. _________________ "In the first place you can't see anything from a car; you've got to get out of the goddamned contraption and walk, better yet crawl, on hands and knees...When traces of blood begin to mark your trail you'll see something, maybe."

Dang - that WOULD be nice - maybe they could even include things like Disney Land and Magic Mountain on it... _________________ "Only small minds want always to be right."

The Maricopa County Parks Pass (formerly $50, now $75) grants the holder access to each of the parks within the county. In essence you don't have to pay the $5 enterance fee. It does not cover camping costs, but only access. I use mine at Usery at least twice a week. I've used it out at McDowell and White Tanks quite a bit as well. I've used it once at Cave Creek.
I just flash it at the station if people are present, if not, I just put it on the dash instead of doing the self pay thing.
The pass allows the holder access to:
Usery Mtn Rec Area
San Tan Mtn Regional Park
Buckeye Hills Rec Area
Estrella Mtn Reg. Park
White Tanks Mtn Reg. Park
Adobe Mtn Rec Area
Lake Pleasant Reg. Park
Cave Creek Rec. Area
McDowell Mtn Reg. Park
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area _________________ -Colin

Great thanks ck1, so its basically like 15 visits per year would make up the cost, thats pretty good. It also would give me some incentive to go to some of the ones on that list i maybe wouldn't otherwise. _________________ "In the first place you can't see anything from a car; you've got to get out of the goddamned contraption and walk, better yet crawl, on hands and knees...When traces of blood begin to mark your trail you'll see something, maybe."

I know it seems like a lot at the time, but when you figure I go twice a week...it's still a savings... _________________ -Colin
