I'm planning an overnight back pack to Taylor Cabin via the Dogie Trail sometime in Oct/Nov when the weather breaks if I can find out what the water situation is up there. I'm thinking there will be water this year. Anyone is welcome to hike along as a "group of solo hikers." |
Ooh...we attempted that as a GHOTM one time, it turned into a death march (waay too hot, no water in the creek and about the same in the hydration bladders) and my first time (not by choice) getting to use my headlamp night hiking...which was actually kinda cool.
...never did make it to the cabin, so it's still been on the TO-DO list. _________________ ~Tracy

I did it as a day hike several years ago, a good long haul, but we all survived. I've been wanting to go back and spend the night by the cabin, and figured it would only happen if it were on the calendar. _________________ The bear went over the mountain to see what he could see. |

Shawn you can always join me for a loop starting at Kelsey trail and going down into little LO canyon, downstream to the Taylor cabin trail and up to the rim. Then back across Sycamore and up to Winter cabin on our way back to Kelsey.
it would be a fun overnighter and very similar to the Red Tanks loop we did with Matt last year. _________________ http://www.arizonahikers.com/board/albums/albwb18/BRIDGE.sized.jpg

I have a 4 day weekend in October (9,10,11,12) so that's a great weekend for me. Perhaps we'll be seeing some Fall colors??? |

A Halloween costume hike would be cool!
Trick, treat and hike.
October 25th or 26th early evening hike, preferably around Phoenix metro area so we can expose our weird costumes to others while hiking.
We can vote:
Piestewa Peak
Usery Mtn Park
South Mountain
Pinnacle Peak
North Mountain
Any other ideas?
We can have a pot luck/BBQ if anyone is interested
Costume contest
Kids are very welcome and encouraged to this event! _________________ You can never eat too much candy... |

Spook-tac-ular! Heidi great idea! Something new and fun! Does this mean I can't use Linda's idea to dress as a hiker? |
