Sorry to hear that Jamie, hope the recovery goes well. Yeah that was a fun water/snowstorm filled day at Madera.

If it were to be during a long weekend...I'd most gladly join in...else it is too physically taxing to fly from Austin on Fri. do the WFW on Sat and fly back on sunday. Maybe in 2009 we could schedule it for the labor day weekend...

I will be doing a fall photo hike(s) end of October and early Nov. This doesn't have to be a GHOTM but I am opening it up to any who are interested from here. I did something like this with a few folks from HAZ and here a couple of years ago and I think all had fun although it was a definitely on your own sort of thing.

I have two of my usual haunts in mind, and maybe a new place.

As it gets closer I'll bump it up and maybe list it as an event; if not just pm me.

So - there have been a few suggestions about October. It's quite sad to see only one upcoming event on the home page (although that will be a fun one!).

Any takers on the 2 ideas posted? Any other ideas? What are good options for October?

I'm planning an overnight back pack to Taylor Cabin via the Dogie Trail sometime in Oct/Nov when the weather breaks if I can find out what the water situation is up there. I'm thinking there will be water this year. Anyone is welcome to hike along as a "group of solo hikers."
