So there's no GHOTM for November and we usually do a Superstition Ridgeline trip. Anyone interested in that or something else?
I am volunteering to head it up and organize it.
I'd like to do it from Siphon Draw and end up at Carney Springs and camp where we did last year just west of The Dons Camp.
There are a few alternate hikes available for those less ambitious hikers on both ends.

How about the 10/11th or 24/25 (Thanksgiving weekend though)? I'm sure you'll put up a poll though. |

Hey GoatMan, that's my favorite direction, so count me in. If anybody would be into doing the northeast derivative toward Rustler's Roost from Superstition summit, I'd be interested, since I can never seem to find that particular Rustler's Roost. (Shhh, Gabriel; GPS Joe) :) That would add about four miles to descend to Peralta, and requires route finding to the northwest, etc. _________________ What a magnificent time to LIVE! - Everett Ruess.

you guys ought to consider the Mazatzal Peak summit, with the Barnhardt/y-bar loop-just to try something different. It is just a little more technical than the ridgeline. Not too shabby up there in them hills in november so you wont be sweatin'! _________________ http://www.arizonahikers.com/board/albums/albwb18/BRIDGE.sized.jpg

Hey JW, I'd be up for trying to find that route. If we miss it, we can just wander around a bit. _________________ It is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring. -- Carl Sagan |

That is a pretty sweet hike - it won't have any snow on it in November yet, I imagine? Was up there in June and it was a bit toasty down low at day's end. From the Y-Bar to the top was some great brush-bashing. Maybe we could do this as a GHOTM at a later date?
I'd be up for either weekend in November that Tim's suggested |

well I thought of it because A)drive in is good for all vehicles, B)trailhead parking is ample, C)you'd be able to see some nice re-growth in one of Arizona's most beautiful and remote areas, and D)the Supes Ridgeline has to be getting old and this is a new alternative to a strenuous hike. Its about as difficult as the Ridgeline with much better veiws IMO. _________________ http://www.arizonahikers.com/board/albums/albwb18/BRIDGE.sized.jpg

Definitely true about the views - spectacular, in most directions. I'd certainly be up for doing that peak again, too.
How many years in a row have you guys done the Ridgeline? |

This will be the fifth consecutive year Scott. One year was pretty tough because of WICKED FOUL WEATHER! Snowed on us along the top, wind and rain the rest of the way. The first year took me the longest and I was dehydrated and walked out in the dark and we did it in October that year. It's been fun every year and I'm looking forward to it again this year. It's a great hike!
Just got busted by my boss, gotta go! _________________ ;o)> |

The Ridgeline is one of the only GHOTM that I am able to make - but a day hike around Barnhardt wouldn't meet with my disfavor - that's some pretty country up there.
But - there is also something to be said for tradition. We don't have many, but the West Fork Wade and the Ridgeline seem to be two of the top traditions with this group. _________________ "Only small minds want always to be right."
