Last Sunday when this heat wave was getting underway I ran for my hills. It was 85 degrees at 10,000 feet but bone dry, lots of shade and always a breaze it was perfect hiking weather.
I am still always and forever amazed this 2 mile high island in the sky exists in such an arrid world such as Las Vegas. I'm forever thankful too.

Nice shots IGO. I don't think I have ever seen a Bristlecone Pine. I know we have them on the eastern side of the Sierra. (Say, Sierra sounds like a nice Dogs name!) I'm going to have to get over there.
Hard to believe they have survived so many milleniums!

Amazing tree's - thanks for the education. Had no clue of their age! Amazing place so close to sin city.

That's one of the things I like about Arizona too. A couple of hours and you are in completely different country!
