For your general info and fun... map locations of current fires, and the hotspots for the last 24 hours:
1.) General Location Large Incident Fires.. nationwide:
http://activefiremaps.fs.fed.us/lg_fire2.php
2.) Location of high heat areas (fires) within last 24 hours:... this is satellite (MODIS) IR.. heat detection remote sensor...1000 meter accuracy.

Don't know if I've posted this before, Windy Mesa, but your username is also the name of a rather seedy bar here in Page. But perhaps this is the reason for it? _________________ Anywhere is within walking distance if you spend the time. |

Davis: The National Interagency Fire Center in Boise, Idaho website... www.nifc.gov will get you to the above SWCC site and the other fire regions as well... as well as the fire maps in my first post.
PageRob... yes I stole my "handle" from the Windy Mesa bar in Page... but I didn't notice the Mesa was seedy.... but then all my friends come from low places.
Nighthiker: 1.) I do not have a link to current year fires less than 100 acres... that is pretty much agency kept until the years end when it is delivered to the following site: http://wildfire.cr.usgs.gov/firehistory/data.html This is good for historical fires and includes all size fires. 2.) The progression and current fire maps from the federal teams are posted internally to a website for the local agencies, and the fire community... but nothing for the general public... your best bet is to go to the website of that agency that is "hosting" the fire... and hope they post these maps for the general public... which they should.... but all agencies/offices are not created equal when it comes to customer service. |

a couple days ago the smoke from the fires in western Colorado drifed over Denver making the sun deep red. _________________ Mountains are there to be climbed!

I met > 100 acres. Some ( Iwish they all did) of the Incident managment teams post for public use fire progression maps overlayed on USGS 7.5 min maps. |
