Oh, that looks a little more reasonable. Especially without all the folks! I haven't been to Yosemite in probably 38 years, but if I go it will have to be during some off-time, during the week, etc. I dislike crowds. I assume in Sept. after the kids have gone back to school, and during the week, would be the least crowded time with nice weather?

A better time in May. The falls are roaring, not many people and the weather great. (Although I got snowed on last Mem Day week-end and then 70*...Keeps things interesting Smile )

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind!

I'm assuming Tioga Pass road would not be open yet in May?

I spent a week in Yosemite last year; was hoping to go in over Tioga Pass, but it was closed so had to go through Bakersfirld, Fresno. Pass opened the day before I left, so took it back home. Very scenic drive....not sure I'd want to do it at today's gas prices 'cause it tops out just under 10,000 feet and I watched the gas guage in the Hoolimobile go down at close to the same rate we were climbing!

This was taken near the top of Tioga Pass on the way out.

Nice pictures Hooli! That looks like Tioga Lake. Last year was a big water year...one of the best I've ever seen. This year is not as robust which means the falls will be short lived. Sad Did you hike down the Panorama trail at all from Glacier Point? I love the views up there!

I wasn't fully recovered from the pneumonia I came back from Puerto Peñasco with a month earlier; only hiking I did was Meadow Trail by the Wawona Lodge, only trail in the park that allows dogs. Did it with Rich every morning and it wore me totally out. other than that, it was just driving around and sight seeing. Was nice 'cause I'd never been to Yosemite while Yosemite falls was going full blast; that was awesome!

Some day YH, I am coming over there! Cables up or cables down I want to do Half Dome! I want to come in May. Though I will probably freeze to death I want to come in May so I can see the falls... then later I will come later in the year so I can see other more out of the way things....one hike at a time I guess....

Meadow Trail by Wawona Lodge? Ahem...Hooli, that's not a meadow, that's a golf course! (just as I suspected!) So did Richie make you carry his clubs? Smile

The Meadow Trail is four miles and circles the golf course. Only reason dogs are allowed on it is 'cause it once was a paved road. Except when crossing the road from Wynona Lodge you don't even see the golf course.

Richie Rich is my hiking partner, backpacking partner and four wheeling partner; only thing he doesn't do with me is play golf......shows how much smarter he is than I!

See the real truth comes out, about 6100 yard course for 18 holes equals about 3.5 miles, add the trip to and from the car and Hooli tracking down the balls in the woods it's about 4 miles Smile
