Wow, good news from the Eastern Front! That's a pretty good chunk of mileage, there. I guess in Georgia you got the edge of the nor'easter storm they had.

Happy hiking!

Franklin is the start of the heart of the highest country and the core of the Great Smokies. I've done a lot of hiking around Franklin.

Great to hear from you Tommy. Sounds like you're have a great time. Keep enjoying and stay safe, posting from time to time. Like Diane said would be nice to sit around a campfire and listen to your tales. Are you keeping a journal by chance? Hope so, lots of little things happen that make a trip that could be recorded.

Tommy,

How great to hear from you! At 20 miles a day, you'll be done in no time at all.

Plan on meeting some more interesting people along the way. I agree with Michelle and hope you are keeping a journal of sorts. It will be something special to reflect on in the future.

Be safe

Mr. Green

Second, get contacts from the people you meet. The other hikers you'll meet on a thruhike are a COOL bunch of people...share experiences with a person for several days, then they disappear into thin air...for their email when I first met them. The few people I am still in contact are great friends despite living in various places all over th world.
Right Lizard, this is something I do, too. Friends from Australia, New Zealand, Sweden (where are you Ms. Borjk?), are true outdoors and mountain people! They share our calling for these AZ mtns (OK, yes, international places...)! Whoo-hoo!
