I think this would be a good topic header for the forum - "Health and Training."
A spot specifically to address not just training, but also a forum devoted to suggestions for getting into hiking shape, training for an upcomming big hike or some tips on rehabilitation for an old war wound.

Another topic which I think would be useful is one treating:
photographs, literature, art, websites, etc.
I recall it fondly from the other site - and found it quite enjoyable. I think it deserves a place here as well. _________________ "Only small minds want always to be right."

That sounds good to me.
Mike may have to put a limit on mods per day.

Hey, I like this quick reply option. Very slick. Keeps it from having to load a new page.
Modem users all over the world thank you. _________________ "Only small minds want always to be right."

Don't worry - I won't have Mike adding more than 2,000 lines of code a day. Nothing unreasonable.
Mrs. Mike would have my hide if I kept him at a computer more than he already is. _________________ "Only small minds want always to be right."

I like the idea of the literature topic. Not just guides to hiking trails, but also fiction, non-fiction, area history, good magazines, articles, lectures, etc.
Also, maybe a links area for online equipment sites, information, maps, etc.
And, I like the Classifieds idea. People should just be contacted by PM or email and not post their addresses or phone numbers!! |

Can't wait to see the "Peak of the Week" section!!
And I like the idea of Tips and Tricks or Do's & Don'ts of Photography and also GPS use.
Jared, good suggestion of Health and Training!! |

I like the Health and Training idea. Then I may actually be able to contribute something worthwhile |

Glad you like it, I thought it would be a nice addition for those on dialup connections. I don't know if you figured it out, but if you highlight text in one of the posts, then click the "Quote selected" button on the quick reply form, it'll quote the text for you. Kind of a cool feature. _________________ |

Man, I can use a Health Topic right now! Have a sinus infection; never had one before. Even my teeth hurt Dr's got me on antibiotics and I've been lying out back letting the sun beat down on my face, which really feels good. Anybody have any other remedies that have worked for them? You can PM me and thanks! _________________ John Richardson and Richie Rich, El Perro de Playero

Are you freaking kidding me?!! I live with sinus infections nearly all the time and you've never even had one before? I officially hate you - and the horse you rode in on.
By the way - a good remedy that is kind of unusual - snorting a saline solution. Get about a cup of warm water and mix with a teaspoon of salt, then snort that stuff up into your nose. Feels weird, tastes awfull, but it cleans out all the garbage and helps the healing process. An ENT specialist had me doing that when I got my sinuses operated on - I do it periodically now because it helps so much. _________________ "Only small minds want always to be right."

I just saw your sig Daddee. I was wondering what became of Olesma. Good to see you.
I think we could use a General subforum for things that don't quite fit elsewhere. Other than that I think we have it well covered. Too many subforums are laborious to navigate. _________________ Seize from every moment its unique novelty and do not prepare your joys

Thanks "Daddee" (Man, I love saying that to a guy not even half my age )
I started doing that Saturday, using an ear syringe; picked the tip up from an article in Consumer Reports Health Letter. _________________ John Richardson and Richie Rich, El Perro de Playero

Nice to see everyone in here as well. You missed the meeting and my boy running around saying "Daddee..." all night. That is what prompted the change. A few other people have changed their login as well - but for the most part everyone has retained their online identity.
It certainly is good to hear from everyone again. My wife laughed a bit at me when I came home in a near state of panic telling her the old site was gone. But she realizes that this group is important to me and has been very supportive of me. Even if I don't get to go hiking as often as I would like, I can at least share stories with others and that is at least a balm of healing for the non-wearied feet. _________________ "Only small minds want always to be right."

Check out the "Off-Trail Area", we put that there for just what you're talking about! _________________ |
