I'm getting miniature ants on my kitchen counter. They're so small that at first I thought I'd spilled some pepper, but then noticed the "pepper"was moving. Almost takes a magnifying glass to see they are really ants. Can go three four days without seeing any, then a dozen or more appear all at once; only of the right side of my sink's kitchen counter. Can't see where they're coming from and this just started with in the past few weeks; never happened before. Because of Rich, I refuse to use pesticides in the house just as I refuse to use herbicides in my yard. Any ideas?

Try putting some lemon peel under the sink and around the problem area. That seems to have worked for us before.

You can try sprinkling Amdro granules where Richie Rich won't be able to get to it. I vacuum it up after the ants are gone. You can get Amdro at Home Depot. It is a chemical, but I have found it better than sprays which I don't like to use.

Thing is, these things only appear every few days and a quick wipe with a damp paper towel and I don't see them again for a couple of days or more; really more curious about what type of ant they are than anything. Question

Sounds to me like they're small kitchen ants.

Yeah, sounds right to me, too. Can you hold the magnifying glass just right in front of your cam and post a pic? I'll shoot it to the DOA folks.

If they're that small, I wouldn't worry. They won't eat much.
On another note Bay Area Boy, are you sure it's not some of the old LDS kicking in?

Cinnamon!

I have the same concerns in the yard with Shelly and Condo. Don't want the baby turtles munching on poison of any kind.
