In Washington State, there is a terrific area located within a three hour drive of Seattle known as the Enchantment Lakes area. Before I started chasing the western county highpoints and prominence peaks, I would make trip after trip into this area. I offer this information just in case you ever get a chance to hike in the Washington state area.
Here is a link to a lot of information that I have put together for summitpost

A couple pics to whet your appetite
This pic is of Colchuck Lake, an easy dayhike from the trailhead
This one is showcasing LIttle Annapurna, a centerpiece of the area.
This one can be done in a long dayhike but it is best to try and get a permit to camp overnight in the Enchantments. The permit system was necessary to keep the place from being loved to death

Looks amazing, when I'm 38 I'm going to take a month off and hike! When I'm 59.5 I'll take a bit more time than that! |

I hope for a PCT through hike in 5 years. Just gotta get my life in order and established as a travel nurse. Then I'll be able to take off enough time. _________________ It is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring. -- Carl Sagan |

I'm going to quit this job then become a slot machine mechanic, then I'll do the PCT a month or so after that. _________________ "Surely all God's people, however serious or savage, great or small, like to play. Thru hiking the PCT has always been a dream of mine too. I think the journals that are online are a great source of inspiration. Every time I meet a thru hiker on the PCT, I take my hat off to them. _________________ http://www.summitpost.org/user_page.php?user_id=1160 |

My real hiking dream from day one many years ago.......find the head waters of the Colorado and walk it until it drys up someplace near the border. _________________ "Surely all God's people, however serious or savage, great or small, like to play. Dean: Just awesome photos. What else is there to say?
Tim: Can't you like, just gather up leave time and do it sooner?
