I'm perfect. I never quit anything. I sometimes change habits, though. Then sometimes I change back again. Purely choice. I have never smoked tobacco nor do I drink more than about one or two drinks per year. But I didn't "quit" drinking--I've always been like that. I like coffee. I do spend a lot of money on coffee, caffe mocha ventis, etc. So I suppose that's a bad habit. I have no intention of quitting it altogether, though!
As for men, they used to go by the wayside on a regular basis before I had kids. My sister used to say my track record wasn't very good. I think what she meant was I hadn't kept one long enough for marriage. In her mind she must have thought I should be looking for a marriageable one. (She is 18 years older than I am, so she may have some notion about marriage being a necessity.) I wasn't looking for a marriageable one, though. I guess I should have told her that. I found one, anyway.
So, what are the Tubes? Never heard of this. Is it a rock band? |

The Tubes, What Do You Want From Life? (1975) Taking digs at: American popular culture, over consumption, and the accumulation of material wealth as the only measurement for success. I think - I'm not sure - that the intro is a reference to Patty Hearst.
According to Yahoo Music:
The Tubes were arch satirists of popular culture whose outrageous performance-art concepts -- which swung wildly from soft-core pornography to suit-and-tie conservatism -- frequently eclipsed their elusive musical identity. The beginnings of the group originate in Phoenix, Arizona in the late '60s, where guitarist Bill Spooner, keyboardist Vince Welnick and bassist Rick Anderson formed as the Beans (alternately billing themselves as the Radar Men from Uranus)......

Ok, that explains it. I was basically out of the country (in Hawaii, and also living off the power grid) from '78 to '86. Looks like late 70's through mid-eighties they were most well-known, unless you happen to be from Phoenix, which I'm not.
In Hawaii we had Andy Boomatai for social commentary. Ever heard of him? |

Never heard of Andy Boomatai, I could not find him in the Wikipedia either. Slak-key? I would sure like to be "off the grid". _________________ "As I write, highly civilized human beings are flying overhead, trying to kill me."

Yes, as long as you promise not to do it in the future. |

Wow, speaking of quiting. During the time in highschool when I was in a rock-n-roll band, my girlfriend(very briefly) quit me for the drummer/lead singer in our band while I was away deer hunting with my brother and Dad. I thought something was peculiar when Jerry shows up and walks with us when I walked her to her first hour class. During 2nd hour PE a mutual friend told me what had happened while I was gone. Oh well, here's the rest of the story: That same girl, using the same techniques employed during our relationship, eventually worked her way up the ranks and ended up marrying Bill Spooner! True story.
Some of you do know the Tubes originated here in Phoenix.

Not sure, but I believe she is the mother of the two sons of Bill Spooner mentioned in the link that I posted.
She sure was pretty. I knew it was a too-good-to-be-true scenario, but just had to hang out for the ride. Just mere thoughts of her for that short period of time that she was my girlfriend were enough to give me a severe case of blue b----. You can imagine the pain while I'm out playing red neck in the woods with my brother and dad. I tell you what!!!!!!!! _________________ ;o)> |

Did a little research. She is not the mother of Boone Spooner, that would be Cindi Osborn, one time lead dancer for the Tubes. As for the other son I'm not sure. _________________ ;o)> |

White Punks on Dope....a love song.
I don't think I could really get into Spooners new stuff either. _________________ "Surely all God's people, however serious or savage, great or small, like to play.
