The most common snakes that I have been assigned to relocate this past week have been Coachwhips. Commonly called racers, they are either a black colored snake or a reddish pink colored snake. At this time they are in between color phases and are a combination of both and pretty cool looking.

Where have the calls been coming in from? Are they poisonous? They sound like they look really cool. Cool

Coachwhips are non-venomous and very cool. They are called racers because they can move extremely fast for a snake. It's kind of surprising really. I came across one that was sunning himself right in the middle of the road. We got out and took some pictures of him and were really close to him for several minutes. Then I reached out to touch him to encourage him to get of the road - I barely brushed his skin and WHOSH! - he was gone almost before I could react. He actually moved so fast it was a little starteling. Quite impressive.

Very beautiful snakes.
