I was reading an article (obviously can't remember where) about how great these "new" duct tape bandages are for blisters and hikers. They stick and won't move around. I know they are made by nexcare but can't seem to find them any place or a even a place to order.
Just wondering if anyone has seen them or perhaps sampled them????? |

In the past I have used a peace of duct tape with TP over the blister, two things that are in my pack anyhow. |

I have used them before and didn't have much luck with them staying put. I agree that duct tape works well as does white tape used to wrap hockey sticks, or shin splints. _________________ Be the change you wish to see in the world.

that's an interesting combination that I would have never thought of...thanks,
Todd was able to whip out a piece of duct tape on my last trip that worked wonders on the 150 fine little cactus needles that I accidently climbed through.....handy stuff! |

If you get blisters you don't need band aides, you need better fitting boots. _________________ The bear went over the mountain to see what he could see. |

I agree about the better fitting boots. I have tried different systems of boots, socks, trail shoes, moleskin, duct tape adhesive tape, over the years.
But I don't think I'll ever be able to find a pair of cross country ski boots that exactly fit my size 10 1/2 AA foot! The worst blisters I've ever had in a lifetime of hiking were caused by the very same xc ski boots I still own! But duct tape, good old duct tape, saves the day now. I just tape up my entire heel--back, sides and sole--real well before skiing. Moleskin just rucks up, to use a Colin Fletcher term. It slips away, gets wrinkled, comes loose, even if you hold it on with adhesive tape. Back in the days I first started backpacking (in 1971) it stayed on better. It had glue on it more like duct tape, and wouldn't come off until you went home. That was in the days when we all wore Pivetta Muir Trail unlined all-leather Italian boots. Nowadays I actually am meeting a lot of hikers who say: "What is moleskin?" That's a good thing--it means that the shoes fit better now! |

yes perhaps..................I have what has been described as a deep tissue ulcer under the skin on the side of my foot. It's a super sensitive area that seems to have issues even when I'm barefoot. I need a sabatical from hiking so my feet can completely heal but I'm not sure when that is going to happen. Although I do have plans to retire from hiking and take up quilting in order to save my feet....but I just haven't done it....so for now.....I'll try something else. |

Oh, and the Spelling Police have contacted me again. They say that first aid is taking care of someone who is hurt. First aide, on the other hand is, well, just think "Monica Lewinsky."
And I think a band-aide, (in the same vein as above), would be something akin to a groupie or a roadie.
Hooli, do I still have 34 people ahead of me or should I just keep at it? |
