OMG, those are some NASTY toe nails! There should be a warning on this post of the graphics! I almost lost my dinner! Mary _________________ Courage affects what we are willing to do for ourselves as well as what we are willing to do for an other person.

The book "Fixing Your Feet" is an excellent resource for these kinds of issues. I was having problems, I read it, I tried a few things, and I have been right as rain ever since. _________________ Jamie

Rain would be right right about now, too! It's getting dry again! As for the toe nails, one thing I didn't notice being mentioned: you should always trim your toenails as short as possible before a hike. Long toenails can cause many of these problems, in addition to the fit of the shoe, etc. etc. |

I've always done that too. Trim nails I mean. _________________ "Surely all God's people, however serious or savage, great or small, like to play. I lost a big toenail today. They don't even get black and blue any more. Anyone want to see it? |

Did you want to show us the toe, minus its nail, or the nail, minus its toe?
Either way, I guess I could pass on that one.
If you save the nail and put it under your pillow the Toenail Fairy will come along and take it and leave you a present! Yes, really! |

The damage was likely from rock climbing back in November. I kept those pretty purple climbing shoes on all day for the Sunday we were at Magma Mine after having them on the entire day before when we were at the McDowells. It hurt for a couple of days back then but wasn't that bad.
I'm smarter now and take sandals or flip flops and slip off the climbing shoes when I'm not on a climb.
The new one is about 3/4 of the way grown in and just looks funky....no pain. It gave me an opportunity to teach the class about the molting process. |

Hey no fair! I banged up one of my toenails coming down Newman Peak.
A week later I found the nail in bed in the morning. My present was a new toenail , peaking out from under the old nail. _________________ Those who dwell among the beauties and mysteries of the earth are never alone or weary of life. - Rachel Carson |
