Ok...please explain...what's a mini wax-coated Baby Bell? cheese? |
They are a small roundish serving of cheese wrapped in wax with a nice little pull strip for opening. They have a mild flavor and nice texture. You can find them in the deli section usually in a little mesh bag. About 6 per bag...great with Triscit crackers! |

How long do you think they last on a backpacking trip? Just for the day? I do love cheese and would love to add it to stuff I can pack.

One thing I like to bring is grahmcrackers and a mix of peanut butter, honey and olive oil. I use only the natural peanut butter. When mixed with honey it gets to thick and the grahm crackers break too easily, so I add olive oil to thin it out. I't a great mix! _________________ Mountains are there to be climbed!

I agree with the tuna and pb options when hiking, they work great.
I get a bit more spoiled when I am riding.
Hmm, maybe I could start a delivery service for hikers. I got these nice saddlebags for the horse that I can carry ice in for drinks and food. It's kinda nice! Maybe I could meet up at a certain location and drop stuff off. LOL. _________________ And this our life, exempt from public haunt,

I've had them for about 4 days with no problems. |

I like the Baby Bell smoked cheese (it might be gouda?)...lasts for days on the trail in a backpack....at least 3 days. But I put mine in the freezer the night before I'm heading out and it seems to last longer. Same with Canadian bacon and Egg burritos...I cook them ahead of time and freeze them. They are good for days.
Of course Beef Jerky is the best if you can make it yourself.
PB is a fav too on WW pita and I really like marmalade too!

Weight is a little more, but cheese-in-a-can lasts forever. Lunch on the trail on a backpack is usually just some bagels and PB, or chicken and crackers. I'm a breakfast/dinner guy on the trail. _________________ Anywhere is within walking distance if you spend the time. |
