Porridge? Isn't that a bit quaint? We call it "oatmeal mush" at our house. I eat that while backpacking, also, but not for lunch. |

"Porridge" is an automatic synonym for da*n, that the site has set up 'cause GTG and Mike don't never swear, being good ol' southern boys! Actually GTG is the synomyn chooser. Try typing all the dirty words ya know, the clicking on "Preview" and you'll find out what words get through and what words GTG thinks are naughty.
However if you spend much time conversing with GTG you'll find out there are no synonyms in his vocabulary _________________ John Richardson and Richie Rich, El Perro de Playero

I porridge well already knew y'all were uptight about some perfectly good old Anglo-Saxon words. Oh well, such is life in this PC world. (Porridgely Crazy.)
So, what is GTG? Haven't picked up on that one yet. Good to go? Greater Than God? Gone to Georgia? Getting Their Goat? |

It's their site, ownership has it's priviledges. _________________ The bear went over the mountain to see what he could see. |

Ya know, I've never tested to see if this synonym thing works in reverse; for example, if I type "Pumpkin" will I get....er, uh, never mind! _________________ John Richardson and Richie Rich, El Perro de Playero

Even more you invented on the golf coarse you mean. _________________ "Surely all God's people, however serious or savage, great or small, like to play. How do you make the quote in white? I just tried quoting for the first time. You guys' quotes are all in white, but mine isn't.
I have to say, regarding the website, that I have also tried my hand at HAZ and also Grand Canyon Hikers yahoo group. This one is hands down the easiest for a techno-retard like myself. I may not know how to do all the little neat things but can get around and figure out most of it. HAZ is so big, and is not nearly as user friendly, chock full of info, though. As for it not being user freindly, for example, when you go to write a response it takes you to a new screen, so you can no longer see what it is you're responding to. I hate that, because I can't remember anything for more than a minute anyway! Then I don't know how to go back to the forum screen without losing what I wrote in the response screen. And that other one, the Grand Canyon Hikers one, is no fun at all. It is just plain hard to figure it out. And then when they send you an email you can't click in the email to get back to the site. There is a lot of good info in there, too, but I won't be using that one too much either because it is too hard for me to figure it out. (Maybe they'll be glad I won't be showing up and bothering them, anyway!) |

Highlight the text you want to quote, then scroll down to the bottom to the "Quick Reply" box and click on the "Quote selected" button. To make it show the name of the person you're quoting, just add ="username" after "[quote" Or, to quote an entire post, click the "quote" button inside that post. You can edit out the parts you don't want to quote in the reply form. If you want to make sure it's working properly, click the "preview" button before you submit your post. _________________ [/size] |
