Depends on the weather and what you want to put up with. I like doing it during monsoon season but be sure to be down by about 1pm, otherwise you may get caught in a storm.
There is a lot of snow up there this year, so June may be pushing it a little unless you want to walk through the snow and slush.
Also, don't make the mistake I made the first time I hiked it. Driving from Phoenix to the trail head and starting your hike is not a real good idea. Altitude will kick your butt. Drive up to flagstaff the day before and do a short hike to get aclimated. I'd suggest something like Red Mountain or the lava tube.
I'd like to go again. If you want to make it a group hike let me know the date. _________________

Thanks for the suggestion Daryl, I will definitely adhere to it.
Let's all make it a group hike, those more experienced, get busy planning! _________________ Formerly known as snow22_5150. |

Drive up early Friday afternoon, camp at Locket Meadows, get up early Saturday, go up the inner basin trial to the Wetherford, summit, come back down, roast a weiner or two, hit the hay, drive home Sunday AM. _________________ The bear went over the mountain to see what he could see. |

I have done it that way before, it is a really looooooong hike. I guess one thing that made it really long was the fact that I hiked Fremont Peak along with Humphreys. _________________ Mountains are there to be climbed!

Kristyn, you know I'm definitely in on this one - I can't wait! I'm also all for the idea of camping out the night before, both for aclimating as well as to use my new tent again. I'd like to go as soon as possible - let's hope the snow is melted by June. |

I like the Wetherford Trail too. It is longer, but it sure is pretty.

I plan on trying to make this one, wont be able to camp or hotel it with ya'll, i plan on stayin at my parents and getting up extra early to get on the trail on time. It's been over a year since i've been up there and would love to do it again. I can show you all some cool things while we are there too. _________________ Mountains are there to be climbed!

Depending on when this one is planned, I'd like to get as high as possible in Arizona....
I'm up for the camping the night before as well. I'll watch to when this is gonna happen. I have to go before July 20th and on a weekend. No big deal if it doesn't work out that way--I'll be there one day or another. _________________ All our dreams come true if we have the courage to pursue them...Walt Disney |

I'd probably do the same as I planned for last year....spend a couple of days at the GC RV park getting acclimated and then park the motorhome at the Snowbowl parking lot the day before the hike as sort of a base camp for coffee, etc. the morning of the hike and gathering place to recover at hike's end _________________ John Richardson and Richie Rich, El Perro de Playero

Wow, in the dead of winter. Now that I have never done. Just remeber your snow shoes or your crampons, and maybe your skiis. Might be a fun ski down . _________________ Mountains are there to be climbed!

We have pretty fresh snow right now-the top of the mountain is still white even from town. MP _________________ Shikekeh hozhoogo naasha.
