Another mt. lion was observed roaming around a neighborhood (Royal Palm and Southern Area) in Apache Junction. No reports as of yet of missing pets or panhandlers but reports of graffitti are down. |

In seven years in my house I've saw a mountain lion cross the street about four years ago. Saw a bobcat in the front yard two years ago. Because it is so dry now the javalenas have been dining on my prickly pear lately.
Recently, I discovered that a hibernating rattlesnake can actually be quite lively in that it will rattle and open its mouth ready to bite when picked up with those snake handling tongs. Still as far as moving, it was rather slow and lethargic. It was under a large landscaping rock that was being moved to another spot. Firemen are a great bunch. Not only did they move the snake for me, they also gave me a hand in moving that huge rock while they were at the house. Three cheers, for the fire department! |

Well please let me know if that little kitty is sighted in Gold Canyon.
There was so much commotion here last night I had to chase Harley around the yard at 1am and pick him up to carry him in the house. He's pretty good at dodging and weaving in the dark. There was crying, screaming, yelping, barking and a few moments of silence, and then it would start again......squealing and more barking.....wild night here! |

I saw a cockroach almost as big as a mouse in my bathroom in Tucson one time. |

my favorite thing in the whole world is when a group of Javelina knock down my trash can and scatter debris all over the driveway. Always the morning before the trash goes out, of course.
I wonder what they taste like. _________________ http://www.arizonahikers.com/board/albums/albwb18/BRIDGE.sized.jpg

Observed a bobcat walking across a road in Gold Canyon yesterday while riding, just walking about like a housecat. This morning I left home at 4am for a morning walk, quite surprized how many people have left outdoor lights on. |

Sad, isn't it? Have you ever driven across the Navajo Reservation at night? Amazing how many lights are out there in the middle of nowhere, huh? They all have streetlights in their yards.
Somehow I think the people of Gold Canyon are afraid of something besides skinwalkers, though!
As for bobcats, I used to drive a school bus, both in Tucson and here on the mtn. I had a list, such as many of us keep. Mine was: "List of Wildlife Seen While Driving a School Bus." And yes, I did see at least one bobcat. It was crossing the road on Naranja St. in Oro Valley area of Tucson, before all the homes were built there. You didn't ask, but I'll say anyway that my list included coyotes (of course), and javelinas, deer, elk, bald eagle, golden eagle, fox, and thousands of bunnies. I tried to identify all the tweety birds I saw as well. Up here some drivers have seen wolves, bears and cougars, but I quit that job after a year of driving up here, seeing as they didn't want to pay me much. |

Thanks for the info. Yes, I am aware of the bobcats (2) in the area. They have been peeking through/over the fence and hanging out in the rention area across the street. |

One of my clients lives near Pinnacle peak and he has seen a Lynx who jumps over his wall and drinks from the backyard fountain. He said it was as tall as a Mastiff and long legged with the tufted ears and was really quite stunning; it saw him outside and just jumped back on the wall and sat there for a while and just strutted away. .. he has seen it several times; he has promised me some pics...I will post when I get them. Probably will be seeing more if we don't get rain soon. |
