I may be alone in this, and if I am, so be it...but here's my thought. I'm done with White Tanks. Every trail's been covered. Thanks to Tom we were able to do some pretty nice exploring off trail to make the GHOTM much more fun....but overall, White Tanks is off my list. I know that I'm spoiled living in the East Valley and that West Valley'ers have limited options and end up driving a longer distance...I'm sorry for that...

I was thinking of a top ten list of why White Tanks Sucks, but I thought that was too severe, and I could only come up with 6 reasons. Though I believe the camp host on Saturday could have been reasons 1-4 all by himself.

Would anyone object if we stayed away from White Tanks for group events for awhile...like maybe a decade....

I concur. I've had enough of the White Tanks. If we didn't pick up and move Sat night, it would have probably been a bad scene. I'm glad we decided to hike back down in the wash too. Turned a rather mundane hike into something pretty cool.

I'm also glad you decided to make good on your decision to post this poll Colin. I probably would have posted something a bit more abrasive myself.

I've only done a few things in the white tanks and they are already off my list.

I wouldn't mind heading up to Cave Creek sometime again, not sure what it would look like post fire though. Sad

There are so many great places to visit here, that using a GHOTM in the White Tanks is a bit of waste I think. If someone wants to set up there own hike there thats just fine, but lets not use the GHOTM.

I'd like to hear a top ten Colin... Laughing

Possible #'s

Reservation people, Park Ranger, Volunteer camp host are all using a different channel on the walkie talkies.

It's a "Family" campground, for you know, families and people with kids.

The campground host only does business with you if your name is Mike.

It doesn't matter where we go as long as wer'e in good company!

I'm not much into the White Tanks. But there are other options to the West such as Harquahala Summit, Eagletail Peak, or Bighorn Peak. I've been to the top of Bighorn peak and that is not for many. Harquahala Summit might be more suitable to a mixed group of hikers and it also lends itself to 4X4.

No your not alone in this. I have the same feelings for White Tanks. I'm not going to vote though because I am biased, I think All GHOTM's should be in the Superstitions. Razz
