Consider using a pair of toe gel pads (made for ballet point shoes) to protect your toes on those long, relentless downhill hikes.
You can find some of these pads online at various places. http://dance-outlet.com/gel_toe_pads.html And NO, I will not say how I know about this.... _________________ "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

Marmot Blizzard Down Jacket - Men's $175.00 56% Off, Regularly $399.95
The Marmot Blizzard Down Jacket keeps you warm and dry in conditions that other jackets can't match.
Quote: |
Not only does the Marmot Men's Blizzard Down Jacket keep you toasty warm with 650+ fill down insulation, it keeps you (and the insulation) dry with a waterproof breathable shell. By wrapping the Blizzard with MemBrain 2L shell fabric, Marmot created a jacket that can be used in cold, wet weather without compromising insulation. This Blizzard is perfect for mountaineering and skiing alike. When it's below freezing but still somehow raining, few jackets do as well of a job at keeping you warm than the Marmot Blizzard down jacket. |

Looks like a great deal if your in the market for a cold weather mountaineering jacket. |

I've been looking really close at a lot of Marmot stuff here lately. These look great too. _________________ "Surely all God's people, however serious or savage, great or small, like to play. Mountain Hardwear Epic Jacket - Men's $49.90
60% Off, Regularly $124.95
Quote: |
The Mountain Hardwear Epic Jacket is a ridiculously lightweight outer shell with the technical features to see you through almost any condition in any season. Mountain Hardwear's Epic ripstop face fabric and Epic stretch nylon paneling combine to produce a jacket that is super supple, soft to the touch, and noticeably lacking in that stiff, crinkly feel common to most waterproof pieces. Nicely breathable, this superlight backcountry jacket is perfect for tossing in your bag as an extra layer. The Epic has a hood with one-handed hem and hood adjustment cords, and laminated cuff tabs to help protect you from the elements. Once you're moving and warming up, extra-long pit zips help regulate your temperature. Waterproof, breathable stretch panels give you full range of motion while keeping you dry and comfortable. |

I know it's been a while, but here is a good one for you.
LEKI Ultralite Ti Cor-Tec Antishock Trekking Poles - 1 Pair
On Sale for $65.63, Regularly $129.95
Quote: |
Lighten your load with Leki Ti Cor-Tec Antishock Trekking Poles. Covering lots of ground is easier with these weight saving poles. Don't stop with trying to carry the lightest pack possible, go all the way with these titanium poles from Leki. The naturally friendly feel of cork greets you in the Cor-Tec grips that are angled at 15 degrees to provide a self-correcting pole plant on uneven terrain. A built in spring and elastomer make up the Antishock System and sucks up the sting from rugged terrain before it can reach your hands. Equipped with Leki's Flextip, these lightweight poles are ready for travel no matter how rough the road ahead. |
These are great poles and the ones that I normally use. They've been through a lot.
Get them quick because they will sell out in hours.
