On a windy day, if it's blowing in the right direction, it comes in off the backside of the mountain and that concave section of the peak acts just like a sail and the wind compresses all along the length of it.

I had a buddy who had his hat blown stright up off his head, it soared a good 70 feet in the air and then was carried out away from us and didn't come down till well past the base of the peak. It was amazing to watch.

That same gust of wind knocked me flat against the slope too. Just amazing.
