Hey Diane,
I may have seen your "flavored" solution to the coffee creamer part -- I was in Bashas and they had these little flavor pills (48 to a box) that is supposed to add whatever flavor you choose .. _________________ Photos: http://www.pbase.com/desertgirl/galleries

That's an interesting alternative Kurt. But, I really like the availability of a major caffeine jolt with the concentrate if you really need one.
Maybe Diane can provide a couple samples this weekend...

Agreed - I've always been amazed that they haven't made coffee "snuff"... you know,,,,,,"just a pinch between your cheek and gum"....
I merely added that link in case folks using the "search" function later on for "backpacking coffee" would have easy access to all the alternatives. _________________ "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

Sorry Tom, I ordered Tuesday and haven't recieved them yet. If you email them or call them they will send you a sample of your very own though. I would suggest you try it Tom. The packets would fit right in that little plastic bag you always carry all your condiments in! _________________ ~~~Diane~~~

I'm with Trishness. I have a java press and it makes a great cup of backcountry coffee. If I'm going for just an overnighter I''ll put the grounds in it before I leave. No packaging. |
^5 DesertRoux!!!!
JavaPress is camp coffee at it's finest!!!

Camp coffee yes. I love my java press for camp I use it all the time but for back packing I don't think you are gonna be able to beat the low weight, low volume, no hassel, good taste of this product for back packing. _________________ ~~~Diane~~~

One option I've used is to premix instant coffee with dry creamer and sweetener. Just use that mix with hot water and you're done.
For a big caffiene boost and light weight it's hard to beat chocolate covered beans. _________________ It is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring. -- Carl Sagan |

I'm definitely going to order some of this stuff! Sounds great! I have always used a funnel, filters, and whatever specialty coffee I am currently drinking, however, on a longer trip this is a bit too much to carry.
But when I do order the Javette I am going to politely ask that they change that photo, where the man is carrying the backpack, but the woman isn't! Sort of sexist, isn't it? |
