Okay - the day is fast approaching. Here is the deal:

Meeting at the McDonalds on the Bee-line and Shea in Fountain Hills at 7:30AM - then load up and head for the trailhead.

The probable hike is as Mike said in an earlier post:
Quote:
As for the hike, I would say, we play it by ear. If the falls are flowing as well as I suspect, we may be spending a lot of time checking them out on the way in. I'd like to go back as far as Chilson Camp, and return by the same route, which is about 12.5 miles round-trip.

Anyone that is planning on going, post here so we know to wait for you at the McDonalds.

I'm looking forward to this one.

I think MTNMAN and I are going to make this one! Very Happy

I'm planning to bring my new pup along Diablo (I hope nobody minds, he'll be staying on his leash...or we can hike behind the group if need be Yes ), so we haven't sorted out which vehicle we're bringing yet Spinning

If we miss you all at McDonald's, we'll catch you at the trailhead!

I've been on the fence for this one all week because I've been sick. The doctor diagnosed me and Mrs Mike as well, with acute sinusitis (at least it wasn't acute jeepitis...) yesterday evening. Yesterday was my worst day, but I'm starting to feel better today, so I'm planning on making this one. Mrs Mike won't make it this time, she was running a fairly high fever last night, I don't think she'll be up for it by tomorrow.

I had thought a friend of mine would be going, with 4WD, but that's not going to happen. So, if there's anyone coming from the north valley who could make a quick swing off the 101 to Bell & 56th Street, send me a pm.

acute sinusitis

Don't wimp out on us just because of that - suck it up! Wacko

Sorry - really, but it had to be said (and for those of you that had never had acute sinusitis - that is not a happy thought!).

Anyone in the East Valley that needs a ride out to the McDonalds, send me a PM. I will check the internet only once more today - that will be at around 10:00 PM tonight. If you send me a PM asking for a ride - just give me an address or directions (I live near the US 60 so start from there) then a phone number so I can confirm with you.

See you all there!

I'm going to make an attempt at getting a HCV for this - but it is a long shot, so no promises.

Sorry to hear about Mrs. Mike. Had that for the first time ever a couple of months ago, and it's pure hell! Glad you're feeling better, Mike.

Just got off the phone with GTG and he's taking hid dad's truck.

I mostly wrote that as an excuse to include the "suck it up" comment. Sinusitis is bad mojo man...sorry for Mrs. Mike. Too bad she can't come along - but I'm glad to hear you'll be along.

I don't think so Dennis, might want wear boots just in case. The pictures on HAZ from last week showed folks in shorts, so I thinkl we'll be snow free. I'm not an expert though.

If there is snow, it'll likely be above us on Mazatzal Peak, and it'll probably be melting. Melting snow will mean water running across the trail in spots, so boots would be a good idea. There may be patches of snow along the trail when it gets back into more shaded areas, but I don't think there will be very much. If we go back more than about 4 miles, we'll start getting into higher and more forested territory, so there will be a better possibility of snow.
