So far the past couple of weeks I have observed Western Diamondbacks, Arizona Blacks and one sidewinder and one Mohave. Have not seen any Tigers though.
The gopher snakes that I have observed have been well fed and quite large.
Stange thing I observed today was a pair of young cactus wrens running around with some quail. At first I thought they were baby quail but they were cactus wrens following the adult quail around. |

I saw a gila monster in Whetlock Canyon weekend before last. I don't believe that rumor that they are the larve stage of yeti. _________________ The bear went over the mountain to see what he could see. |

I got buzzed today......the crazy thing is, the dried grasses were so tall, and so much that I couldn't see where the bugger was......I ended up bailing on the hike! Mary |

A couple weeks ago, in Joshua Tree (of course) I accidentally tossed my crash pad down on a Rattler. It was a very kind and patient snake, though - it's probably used to oblivious stupid climbers like me - it just slithered away without even rattling at me. Still got me a bit excited, though, and I relocated to a different boulder.
Since then I've seen two other non-venomous snakes crossing the roads in JTree, and the other morning both a snake and a coyote meandered through my campsite. I was still waking up in my tent when the coyote trotted through and stopped six feet away to meet my gaze through the mesh. I love mornings in JTree! |

Saw one at Tonto Natural Bridge Saturday. Little guy was sitting on a rock about 6 feet off the ground watching the tourist go by. No one else even seen him. Even as I was snapping photos people walked right by...
