I'm planning another trip to Supai in the not-to-distant future (most likely Memorial Day weekend) and am trying to cut as much weight as possible from my pack.
I figure I can get away with just the rainfly and footprint setup for shelter at that time of year if bugs (mosquitos) aren't a major problem.
Anyone been down there at that time of year remember a major bug presence?
Thanks- Ted |

We were there last year on that weekend and the bugs were pretty non existent. Your biggest problem will be the crowds there. If you can, go the week before or at least two weeks after.
The port-o-lets were under provided and overfull.
People were camped right on the trail in places at the campground.

Thanks for the info. I had originally planned to do this trip toward the end of April, but my hiking companions needed to reschedule. I guess I'll call them and see if we can't find another weekend. |
