Observed an owl take out a cat and eat it this evening. I have observed owls in the past prey upon rabbits and rodents the cat is the first. I also noticed the owl was able to remove the fur a lot easier than on rabbits.

One cat I had a while back that learned to keep off ofthe ground as much as possible. We lived on the fringes of Tucson and were visited regularly by coyotes.

Owls are a problem and so are hawks.

I hope the owner of the cat did not have to witness the act.

If the cat had an owner who loved it, they should have kept it inside where it would have been safe!

Poor kitty.

Yes, major bummer if that cat was someone's pet. We have two in the neighborhood let run around, their life expectency is pretty short, between the coyotes and the owls.

I've seen hawks and falcons take prey, not an owl yet. Was this in a rural or urban setting?

There was a very interesting story that ran a few years back of a Great Horned owl that lived near a ski resort in Colorado that had taken to attacking skiers. One guy had to keep shedding clothes in order to get away and reach the lodge. He lost his hat, goggles, jacket, shirt and was just lucky to escape with his pants.

Owls are crazy.
