I have two large Agave in my backyard, both starting to flower. Is it true they'll die after they flower? If so, how long does it take? _________________ John Richardson and Richie Rich, El Perro de Playero

I'm surprised it lasted this long with your brown thumb.
Not all of them die after flowering out. Post a picture and I'll tell you if it's a goner.

It's going to take the rest of this year plus or minus a few months. You've got a while. Most of them produce a string of babies or seed pods from which you can repropogate the mother plant. Send me a photo and I'll help you out at a reasonable rate.
