I am interested in hiking into the "Canyon" for an overnight.
My wife and I have done Supai several times and would like to do something else, perhaps rim to rim..
When , in anyones opinion, for a newbie, is a good time to do a canyon overnight...thanks for you thoughts..john bain _________________ jlb |

April and October usually have the best temperatures for hiking in the Canyon. It's also (as one would expect) the hardest to get a permit for that time, as it is the busiest... Hank |

I second Hank's expert opinion. |

Get out your crampons and go right now. The Bright Angel trail is shut down right now so the mule rider's cabins are open. Call and get a nice warm room and stew dinner--the weather is great!! Go down South Kaibab--it is not tough to go back up it this time of year. I might just have to do this myself now I have thought about it Mary _________________ Shikekeh hozhoogo naasha.

Excellent advice Maryphyl! I wish I'd thought of that earlier this week. I would have been right now. As it is, my next 2 weekends are already tied up. |

Fantastic idea, I wish I had my priorities in order so I could go. A couple days lounging around down there would be ever so loverly.
Did your ears ring Saturday? We talked about calling you and Robert to see if you could join us for dinner, but the sun warmed the snow so that it stuck to our ski's so we finished earlier than expected and Trish'e lunch was still filling us up so we headed home.
