Thanks for the kind words everyone. I guess my enthusiasm for this is big. While I value our temperate climate, I do like the occational snow hike. It is exhilirating!

I wish I could have captured a better photo of the porky but the difficulty was the thick forest. I actullay crawled through game trails and thick brush to try and get a better angle but this was the best. The porky did not pay me any attention either. I understand that they can stay up in a tree eating for a long time.

I did get a couple of other shots of the snowy landscape when we were flying through a pass the next day just as we crossed into Arizona. This is very near the Four Corners. The canyon system was almost endless and it stepped up and up to about 9400' on the top of that mountain.

And here is some detail. Keep in mind the scale of these photos. The red walls are enormous. The rubble piles at their foot are enormous. The snow against the red carved rock was a dramatic sight.

As Cactus Cat illuded, I have been doing some work over at azwilderness.com and if you want to, drop by sometime. We can always use some positive energy. It is as friendly as it is here. I do need to get on this site more often and I am going to do that. There is a good group here with a lot of good energy. We are very fortunate to have such good local websites. Thanks Mike! I am a member of some sites which are active world wide as well. Forums are an excellent way to increase your knowledge.
