Someones Ridgeline trip report with TH directions and some nice pictures.

Especially good pictures of wildflowers and hike up to Flat Iron.

Note: This is a very long dayhike even at only 10+ miles and some extreme dayhikers even do it round-trip for 20+ miles but those are the same who do double & triple GC crossings.

Wow, those are some pretty awesome pictures taken up from the siphon trail overlooking the flatiron. Some of those pics you have on the site; I have excatly the same ones taken from my trip up to the top. That is one of my best hikes I've ever done in Az. It overlooks everything. Seeing those pics you have posted brought me back some good memories of my last trip up there. Laughing

These weren't my pic's or report but remember this guys suggestion from the above trip report...

Quote:
Get familiar with both ends of this hike before you attempt the complete trip. Hike up Siphon draw, and West Boulder Saddle first, and if you like those hikes, the ridgeline is for you.

Good idea and 2 great hikes if you do them separately or together.

I'd like to go again too, Kristyn - before it gets too hot! I still need to reach the peak, and I'd like to stick to the actual ridgeline as much as possible instead of the route we took before.

Any hike up and over Superstition Peak (highpoint closest to Carney Spring)?

I've always taken the same route from the South to the highpoint and back down which is extra times since you have re-trace the same route.

Seems like you could go up and over and continue on pass Hieroglyphic Canyon and so on the ridgeline?

Sorry for the confusion... Confused

The traditional Superstition Ridgeline route doesn't take you up the Superstition Peak highpoint so many take the spur trail to the Peak and return the same way.

To avoid returning the same way I was wondering if anyone had gone up and over Superstition Peak instead of the usual spur trail. Very Happy

I'm likely going to hike the Ridgeline again on Sunday.

Starting point hasn't been decided yet but the other part of my group is doing a "double" Ridgeline. ( 21 miles ) Crazy

Gotcha. I skipped the side trip to the peak last time - rested at the saddle instead. From the looks of it, though, you'd need to do some pretty tricky downclimbing - or a rappel - to continue on over the top.
Arizonaheat has done the route sticking to the actual ridgeline as much as possible instead of the trail, and says it's much tougher that way.

Will you be tracking it with a gps? If so, I'd sure like the way points. Thanks. I'm planning on doing it in early March.

No problem... Already have them from last year and hoping for even a better route this time around. (less cactus on a few sections)
