MEET at I-HOP pkg. lot, Ray Rd. & I-10 (NW corner), 8:00 AM
This annual outing takes us to Picacho Peak, you know, the lone mountain between here and Tucson. It was the site of the westernmost battle of The War between the States. The trail is short, but steep. There is also a very steep section near the top that has chain assists. The views are the real attraction to this hike. You can see for 100 miles in each direction from the top. Plus, on the lower section, we hopefully will be entertained by a profusion of wildflowers. Directly following the hike, we will have a bring-your-own barbeque. I'll bring the charcoal.
